The Best Way To Prevent UV Damage To Your Eyes

The Best Way To Prevent UV Damage To Your Eyes

After we successfully helped people sleep better at night and reduce digital eye strain during the day, another opportunity presented itself. Customers asked us a worthy question, and we gathered our troops at Swanwick Sleep to find a solution.

Here’s how innovation drove us forward.

The Question of Encouragement

People found that wearing Swannies outdoors increased brightness and they needed to cool things down. People told us how much they loved their Swannies and wanted to look fashionable outdoors as well.

The ultimate question remained.

Can you wear Swannies outdoors?

Truthfully, while all Swannies are 100% UV rated, they don’t effectively minimize glare from the sun. Night Swannies block blue light emitted from your digital devices at night, which helps improve your sleep. Day Swannies allow blue light to filter through helping you maintain a healthy circadian rhythm while protecting your eyes from digital eye strain. But what about the extreme glare caused by the Sun?

We asked ourselves: “How can we help people protect their eyes outdoors?”

Polarized sunglasses with UV protection!

We wanted people to look and feel good.

So, we developed our own stylish Swannies Sunnies! And it has a great ring to it as well.

We have an article about what polarized sunglasses are.

Why Should You Wear Sunglasses?

Sunglasses look cool, or at least they should since there are endless options out there. But aside from that, why do you need sunglasses? Isn’t it enough to shield your eyes with a hat or a hand to the brow when you look in the sun’s direction?

Apart from the obvious fact that you don't squint so much when it's sunny as hell, let’s look at the main reasons why you need to wear sunglasses outside.

  • To protect the retina inside your eyes. With age, you can develop Macular Degeneration, and wearing sunglasses protect these photoreceptors from UV damage. Thus, preventing vision loss. Score one for sunglasses.
  • To protect your eye lenses. Wearing sunglasses may slow the progression of Cataract. Another score for sunglasses.
  • To protect against cancer on your eyelids - Bonus point for sunglasses!

The score is Sunglasses 3, No Sunglasses 0.

Advantages of Swannies Sunnies

Similar to your sunscreen, sunglasses should have both UVA and UVB protection.

These are two different types of ultraviolet waves that require different defenses - UVA rays will progress signs of aging, and UVB rays can cause cancer. Neither will be advantageous.

Our polarized Swannies Sunnies block 100% UVA and UVB rays!

As an added benefit, the polarized lenses offer vibrant hues and ensure a pleasant outdoor experience.

Here are the advantages of polarization:

  • Improved visual comfort and clarity
  • Reduced eye strain
  • Reduced reflections
  • Diminished distortion
  • Eliminated glare
  • True observation of colors

Our sunglasses vs other sunglasses

Swanwick Sleep understands the overall importance of blue light protection. And with science to back us, we work diligently to offer you the best solutions. We know our customers love the quality and stylish feel of Swannies. With that and your health in mind, we know you’ll love our UV protection sunglasses as well.
